Get your sport suits (and anime titles) ready! Time for Kei-chan to go all sweaty and healthy. 🏊⛹🤾🚴
Time to head back to Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre for the seventh edition of AniManGaki, the AniManGaki 2015 (#AMG2015). For your information, this was my second outing of this event. You can read back the coverage of my first ever outing here.
This year, it’s all about being sport-y. No, not sporty as in fashion statement, but sporty as in going frenzy on sports. It doesn’t matter what kind of sports that you are interested in – soccer, motor racing, cycling, swimming, basketball, volleyball, running, you name it – there would be a brand new sports-orientated anime titles released. If you want to have a little marathon on a sports anime with your friends, then this was just the right place!
So what sort of entertainment to be expected for this year? As usual, there would be stage and band performances from talented acts such as ACG Harmonia, Fazz, Crestfall, and Project Coser, just to name a few. Cosplay competition (or Cosplay Olympics in this case) will see cosplayers battling out on stage with their own cosplay interpretation while keeping it parallel to the sports theme. Other highlights would be the AniManGaki Idol, InC Salt Tournament and also the AniManGaki Heartstone Fireside Gathering and Tournament.
There was, however, a little surprise in store.
Let me introduced you to AniManGaki latest alliance with San Francisco-based anime distributor and publisher Crunchyroll.
For the very first time ever, AniManGaki would specially screened some of the hottest anime of 2015 for attendees. What’s even more surprising was that they could stand a chance to win membership codes worth RM25 after the screening and also a chance to be a Premium member of the site.
But the pièce de résistance of AniManGaki 2015 goes swiftly to these two acts.
For AniSong fans, you would be delighted to meet Zwei in person. Formed in 2003, bassist Megu and vocalist Ayumu made their official debut in 2004 with their first song “Movie Star“. For your information, Zwei is translated as “Two” in German. Seems to make sense, since they love to portray their “Two” side of music and also within the band itself.
Cosplay fans, on the other hand, would be jumping in excitement to finally meet Yaki in person. Hailing all the way from the People’s Republic of China, she started cosplaying since 2001 and currently a member of China-based popular cosplay association ‘Silent Snary‘.
Judging by the programme laid out inside the tentative, this was without doubt the most extraordinary AniManGaki to date. In fact, I don’t want to talk any much longer, so I’m just going to shut up and leave you my photography of the event.
Till then, we would meet again for AniManGaki 2016.
